BTP'ers,

You may not know this but our email lists are moderated, meaning each
message which is sent from a non-member has to be read and accepted or
rejected manually by a list moderator. Due to the increasing amounts of
spam we have been receiving on our email lists (which you don't see because
I reject it all), I have tightened the restrictions on our lists, which will
result in emails sent from non-list-members being automatically rejected.

Because we occasionally get emails from non-members which we want (like from
potential new volunteers, book donors, or actual list members who are
emailing from an address which isn't the one they registered with), I will
continue to get notifications when these kinds of emails are automatically
marked to be deleted (not distributed to the group) so that I can rescue
them. I will also be adding a contact form to our web site, which
non-members can use to get in touch with us.

If you are an IMC
member<http://www.ucimc.org/mod/info/display/membership/index.php>(which
is not required to volunteer with BTP), you are expected to subscribe to the
main IMC email list <http://lists.chambana.net/cgi-bin/listinfo/imc>. For
this reason, I have also been deleting the many emails which are copied to
our group from other IMC members and groups, containing discussions and
advertising events which are not directly related to books to prisoners. I
do this to keep our lists clean and focused so they are useful to you and
not burdensome. To make sure you aren't missing any of the IMC emails you
are supposed to be getting, if you are an IMC member please ensure that you
are subscribed to the main list.

Books to Prisoners has FOUR separate email lists, all of which are very low
traffic so that we can all belong to as many as we wish without blowing up
our email boxes. Please take a second to make sure that you belong to all
of the lists which apply to, or interest you, note - you can join without
creating a password, though you will need one if you ever make changes to
your settings.

Main BTP list: <http://lists.chambana.net/cgi-bin/listinfo/bookstoprisoners>
Every btp volunteer should belong to this one. If you aren't subscribed,
you are missing important updates and invitations to participate in
important decisions.
Jail Librarians:<http://lists.chambana.net/cgi-bin/listinfo/btp-jail-libraries>
If you have a county jail volunteer id, or would like to work in the jails,
you should belong to this list. Lurkers also welcome!
Key Staff: <http://lists.chambana.net/cgi-bin/listinfo/btp-keystaff>
Anyone who is an IMC member and who holds a key to the building should
belong - we discuss coverage of shifts and administrative tasks.
Zine writers:<http://lists.chambana.net/cgi-bin/listinfo/btp-jail-libraries>
For people who would like to read, and make decisions about publishing
inmate art & poetry, or designing zines. Lurkers also welcome here!

Thanks,
