We are still needing volunteers to help us set up the BtP book sale on
Wednesday November 8 and to work a three hour shift at various times between
November 9 (Thursday) and Nov 13 (Monday). You can see the calendar and sign
up at http://books2prisoners.org/
Here is the announcment for you to cut and paste into your email program and
send to various e-lists and friends.
Please note -- The organization is growing by leaps and bounds and really
needs the funds from this book sale in order to pay the postage to get the
books into prisons. (Our shipping bill is upwards of $500 per month now).
Please support this very worth while cause and personally tell your friends
and co-workers about it too! Thanks so much.
UC- Books to Prisoners has shipped 7000 books to
more than 1000 inmates in Illinois prisons since
the organization's inception 2 years ago. In
addition the group provides all the books and
staff for a library at the Champaign County
Jail.
Books are donated to the program at four
community drop off locations. Excess books (that
are not given to prisoners) are sold to raise
money for postage and to purchase dictionaries.
(Note: Dictionaries are the top inmate request.)
