[Bookstoprisoners] Oct. 14 Meeting agenda/notes

Regarding donating books to Danville. I don't agree that this is was our
concensus and I don't want this to be the final word on the subject. I
think we all agree that having a limited focus has been a major success
factor for us and that we should continue to try to primarily focus on one
thing and do it well, however I didn't get the sense that we had concensus
on that meaning that we don't do anything else.

One of the things that I suggested in the meeting was that we should
continue to look for opportunities that benefit us as well as other
community projects that share our values. The example I gave regarding the
Danville prison library was that as long as we continue to have more books
than we can deal with (as in my mind is evident by the increasing frequency
and magnitude of our book sales) and there is a need that can be filled by
donating some of our books without noticeable impact to our operations, then
we should explore that. I also mentioned that I didn't have all the
information I need from Sara to know what Danville's needs / capacity are,
but that I did know that she is looking into other sources for books and
that I hoped we could do more than simply offering her the left overs from
our book sale. To which there was not much further discussion.

I would like to keep the topic of providing books to Danville on the table,
talk more with Sara about what they need and with our group about what we
think we can reasonably provide. Feel free to discuss this here or with me
directly if anyone has any concerns about this, or doesn't agree that this
is how this topic was left at the meeting.

Thanks,
Jay
