Good afternoon all,
First, to the wonderful people who have been bringing in large boxes for
bulk mailing, we have enough to last a while. Due to lack of space, we do
not have room for more right now. I'll email if we start running low
again. Thanks for dropping them by and please *continue* to bring in
the "*small,
just the right size for single request*" boxes.
Second, get those book suggestions to Jay so he can compile the list for
posting on the web site. Our snail mail and email Alternative Gifting push
will hopefully create a lot of web traffic. It would be nice if they could
see our updated requested books, rather than the very old list that is there
now.
Third, we should try and get all the letters filled that we can in time for
holiday arrival. The PO is swamped this time of year so the quicker we get
them pulled, packed, and shipped the better. At the present time we are
working on the late November requests so we are not that far behind, but it
would be nice to be up to date by the week before Christmas to ensure
delivery. We'll call this the "ALL HANDS ON DECK" push. Please try to come
to as many work sessions as possible to get it all done. Here are the times
for a reminder. Tuesday 7-9 pm, Thursday 2-4 pm, and Satuday 2-4. We all
know how busy this time of year is, but hope to see you all there.
Last but not least, next week we have two large projects. On Monday, Dec.
10 the Champaign Public Library has generously donated bookshelves and
wheeled book carts to uB2P. We will need help loading at the library and
unloading at B2P. If you can help, PLEASE contact me at 352-4717 or email
me. We hope to meet at the CPL at 2pm. The book case sections are not
terribly heavy, but they are awkward and we will need to make at least two
trips. Chris and Esther are the only ones who have responded. Thanks guys!
The other project is book buy back at Illini Union Book Store on campus. We
get some great books for our inmates and make a nice amount of money to pay
for shipping and supplies until we hold our spring book sale. This just
takes a couple of people each day to pick up the books and get them to B2P.
If you would be interested in taking a day or sharing a pick up with another
person (it really helps to have two people) contact me and I'll coordinate
it all. The first day is Saturday, December 8 and the last pick up will be
Sunday, December 16th.
Wheww, this was longer than I thought it would be! Have a great weekend and
enjoy the snow!
Thanks,
Deb
