[Bookstoprisoners] Steering Mtg Tonight

There is a steering meeting tonight at 8pm at tthe IMC.
Every working group needs to have a representative at the meeting.
BtP is a working group of the IMC.

As I've been saying... Not having active interaction with the IMC is our big
failing as an organization. We are totally dependent on the IMC both for our
physical space, for our not-for-profit status, and for financial support
(for example... we did our mailing for the alt gift program from the IMC
mailing list). In addition we owe the IMC a debt for our inception.

Sometimes people ask me "What does the IMC want us to do?" I have to answer
WE are the IMC. There is no "body" of people who govern the IMC, except the
steering committee. The steering committee is made up of members of the
working groups. The "spoke" or "spokes person" from each working group is
supposed to be both at all of the meetings of the BtP and of the IMC
steering committee...bringing news and agenda and concerns back and forth.

Steering committee meets on the first and third Thursday at 8pm.

The Independent Media movement is an important and vital movment in this
time of media conglomeration -- and the mission of BtP needs to be
understood within the mission if that movement.

Even if you are not an "official" spoke of a working group... you are
encouraged to attend the steering committee meetings. You have a vote and a
voice. Please attend if at all possible.
