Yesterday was quite a work day. We had probably 25 volunteers
working, thanks to the infusion of five Volunteer Illini members,
four Uni High students, some of the usual suspects and a few former
volunteers who have returned. It was chaos, but wonderful. We filled
scores of orders and packaged up probably 30-40 of those. Thanks on
behalf of all of us to all of us. A lot of people will be getting
some great books next week during their mail call.
Also yesterday at our meeting we talked about how we get things done,
and how we might share information about all the various tasks that
keep us growing.
As a first step, I offered to make a list. In the end I did two,
attached. One simply lists "all" the tasks, somewhat by category. The
other adds some description of some of these, and has names of those
who may know something about that, or have taken it on. Of course,
I've left off many things and some names, so please let me know what
I should add.
This may be useless, or may serve several purposes:
-help newcomers learn what happens and who knows what
-help us see which of these tasks a hired helper could take on, or not
-help us see what needs a name next to it
-help us decide if we should form any teams
-form the basis for some kind of how-to manual later on.
For the information of those who weren't there (this was a special
meeting), the next monthly meeting will be Saturday, February 10 at
3:00. We will discuss two items:
1. Next Book Sale. (Pick a date and a person or two or three.) 30
minutes max
2. Discuss our organizational structure.
