The United Way is a good thing. I'd get the info in and personally, I think we should do the Alternative Gifting. Compared to the book sale it is a piece-of-cake fundraising. If Barbara would write the cards (her handwriting is sooo beautiful) I would be willing to track and record/update to our donor list. The only thing left is to get the emails to all the lists(including IMC) and a letter to our previous donors. I think we stll have quite a few cards left from last year. They are in the file cabinet and I can count them later this week. My feeling is that we need to do an earlier PUSH, via email lists, snail mail, and maybe some PSA'a and radio spots again to advertise. Our emails should go out the week before Thanksgiving at the latest.

BTW- If we get the conference information to Lori Serb at WEFT we may be able to get an hour or so during one of her shows to talk about the upcoming conference and B2P. We discussed it after the last show and she was very receptive. We could also bring up the Alternative Gifting. Suzanne, would you and/or Jay be willing to go on the air with one other person?

  Subject: [Bookstoprisoners] Alternative Gifts?

  Hello BTPers--

I know it seems early to be thinking about this, but how are folks planning on doing our alternative gift fund raiser again this year? The United Way is publishing a Holiday brochure of volunteer opportunities and now is the time to get our information in. If we do decide to do the alternative gifts again, this will be an excellent place to advertise it. We were in the summer brochure and that is how our newest volunteer, Scott, found us.

Thoughts? I need to submit information for the brochure by the end of the week.

  Suzanne
