[Bookstoprisoners] Re: [Imc-bookkeeper] Re: sos...roof leak at btp

I checked the leak at the east end of the B2P main room. The water is
coming down from the ceiling through a series of very small cracks in
the structure at the northeast corner of the dock area. This is
underneath the secure postal dock area, so I was unable to gain access
to it from above to see where the water was entering from.

Run-off from the leak was being controlled by catching it in several
buckets. Given the very moderate flow, this should be sufficient for now.

I went outside to check things as best I could. The area of the leak is
at the very corner of the building. The most easterly of the
north-facing dock doors is there, as well as the sole east-facing door
(the metal roll-up one that doesn't work, IIRC) both of which are in the
secure PO dock area. There was little water on the dock lip outside the
north-facing door, but quite a bit of water was present on the dock lip
of the east-facing door, as well as all over that door. The concrete of
the dock lip is very crumbly at this point.

If Chris can get a PO escort, he should try to check it on Wednesday to
see if any water is present in the area around the inside of the very
northeast corner of the secure dock area. This would be helpful to
determine if there was a leak from the roof above that went onto the
floor there and then down through cracks in the floor into the B2P room.

I actually suspect that the water was coming from around the dock lip
just outside the east-facing door. Normally, we don't get rain blown in
from the southeast direction, but this seems to have been the case
tonight as almost the entire door was wet. We also rarely get the volume
of rain we encountered today.

I know of no previous occasion when we've had a leak that anyone has
noticed in this area since we've moved into the building. If there are
any noticeable cracks through which water is gaining access, then
sealing them with some silicone caulk may help. The cracks seemed fairly
tight from below, so this may not help. Given the limited volume of
water and the unique weather of tonight, I suspect that otherwise we may
have to just put up with this issue.
