Message-ID: <4824567C.40504@aya.yale.edu> Continuing its tradition of bringing together experts and visionaries in community wireless networking from around the world, this year's International Summit for Community Wireless Networks (IS4CWN) will hold its annual gathering in downtown Washington, DC on May 28-30, 20008. This year's Summit is co-hosted by the New America Foundation and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). In addition to defining cutting edge community wireless solutions, the Summit will highlight the potential of wireless networks to support the work of the human rights organizations. From building sustainable networks in traditionally underserved areas to providing affordable services to help grassroots campaigns, this year's summit will focus on the importance of building community wireless-human rights partnerships. Amir Dossal, Director of the UN Fund for International Partnerships and Agnes Callamard, Director of Article XIX, will welcome attendees from around the world in Wednesday evening's opening plenary. On Thursday, FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein will discuss developments and the initiatives aimed to providing affordable broadband access. A hands-on Tech and Implementation workshop on community wireless networks will also be hosted for those interested in learning about free or low cost open source tools. The Summit will then conclude on Friday with a series of workshops and strategy sessions. To see the full schedule of panels and workshops, visit www.WirelessSummit.org.
