[This is important, please read the whole message without skimming or
you are liable to become confused in the future.]

I have just created several new lists on my server for the
Prairiegreens to use in conjunction with the main
priariegreens at lists.groogroo.com list. I have subscribed some people
to each of these lists but I hope lots more join each of them.

You can visit http://lists.groogroo.com/ to get information about any
of these lists or to signup for any of these lists.

Here are all the lists that are currently set up for the Prairiegreens:

prairiegreens at lists.groogroo.com - The general discussion list that we
have been using since August 13. This list is for all people who are
interested in general discussion of Prairie Greens issues. This is a
fairly high traffic catch all list for anything and everythig related
to the Greens and the Nader campaign.

Note that is you are subscribed to this list you will automatically
get email that is sent to the prairiegreens-news list so you never
have to send messages to both those lists. Send to
prairiegreen at lists.groogroo.com if your message is "discussion" and
prairiegreens-news at lists.groogroo.com if your message is "news or
announcements".

prairiegreens-news at lists.groogroo.com - This is a low traffic list for
"lurkers" who are simply interested in press releases, official
statements, meeting announcements and other news items. This is a good
list for people who do not have the time or email access for active
participation in the discussion list but who do want to stay in the
loop. This is also good for members of allied organizations and media
outlets who want information but aren't active Greens.

prairiegreens-org at lists.groogroo.com - This is a list for organizing
traffic. Anyone may join this list to help with organizing
issues. Membership or non-membership on this list should not imply any
kind of rank or status within the Greens it just means you are
interested in helping the organizing discussion. This list will take
some of the more mundane discussions of when and where to have
meetings off of the main list. It is also a good place to take
discussion of minor policy issues. Details can be hashed out on the
-org list and then brought back to the main group.

prairiegreens-uiuc at lists.groogroo.com - This is a list for the
organizing effort of the Registered Student Organizations at
UIUC. This list exists so that Greens who are not affiliated with the
university do not need to be bothered with this discussion in less
they want to be.

billionaires at lists.groogroo.com - This is the list for the
Billionaires for Bush (or Gore) activist group in town. Billionaires
discuss action logistics here.

OPENNESS: All of these lists are open subscriptions. None of the lists
should be perceived as a "special club", "coterie" or "cadre" or any
other nasty heirarchy related strucutre. These lists exist to
facilitate communication among anyone interested in communicating
while reducing the amount of unwanted email recieved by others. So if
you want to be an organizer all you have to do is join the -org list,
if you want to help the students all you have to do is join the -uiuc
list. If you don't want so much email in your box all you have to do
is drop off the main list and subscribe to the -news list.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PRIVACY: These lists are completely
open. Anyone can post to the lists, anyone can join the lists, anyone
can read the archives online. If you wish to protect your identity
when posting controversial material it is suggested that you create a
yahoo or hotmail or other such anonymous account and use that to make
the posts. If you do not want people to know you are subscribed to the
lists you can hide yourself by visiting your personal options page as
described below. If you have any questions or concerns about privacy
please do not hessitate to email me.

To reach your personal options page just visit
http://lists.groogroo.com/ and click on the name of the list you are
interested in. If you want to sign up you will see a form for that
purpose. If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a link to
get a list of all members. If you go to that list of all members you
can click on your email address to get your personal option page. All
of this is explained in the welcome message you got when you signed
up.
