I'm only going to send this one email message, so please put these dates on your calendars. Wednesday, Feb. 15 - 8:00 to 10:00pm -- Blake Miller, Amelia Biere and AJ Srubas Cajun TrioFrom Lafayette LA (Blake and Amelia) and the Twin Cities (AJ), this trio of Cajun musicians has a lot going for it.  From Iota LA, Blake Miller is the grandson of noted accordion builder Larry Miller, and Blake grew up in a family that celebrated Cajun culture.  Besides being a terrific accordion player and fiddler, Blake is a gifted singer.  His "day job" is that he is the front man of the fabulous band, The Reverlers.  Amelia Biere plays guitar and fiddle and has a great, soulful singing voice. From Dodgeville WI, Amelia moved to the Lafayette LA area about 5 years ago to immerse herself in Cajun and Creole culture.  AJ Srubas is a multi-instrumentalist and plays full-time with the New Riverside Ramblers in the Twin Cities.  On a personal note, Blake is a good friend of mine and one of the best, younger musicians playing Cajun music. We get a chance to visit once or twice a year and I always look forward to hearing Blake play, whether at a gig or a jam session.  He's quite a talent.  This will be the first gig for this trio in CU, so please come out if you can. Friday, Feb. 24 - 5:00 to 7:00pm -- Dennis Stroughmatt & Friends, Cajun & Zydeco Happy HourJust in time for Mardi Gras, Dennis brings his fiery fiddling and spirited vocals to the Iron Post.  Dennis takes a break from his national tour schedule to play this gig at the Iron Post.  While continuing to front both Creole Stomp and L'Esprit Creole, Dennis has been very busy within the traditional country music scene as well.  Besides releasing two CDs of traditional country in recent years, he's also been taking lessons from Nashville session ace Buddy Spicher. Most of you know that I played with Dennis for a number of years, and we always have fun whenever we manage to get together to play music.  This show will feature a lot of traditional Cajun, Creole and Zydeco tunes and I'm sure Dennis will throw in some swing, blues and good ol' traditional country music as well.  The band will include Dennis on fiddle, accordion and vocals, Doug Hawf (from Creole Stomp) on guitar, Doug Rigsby on drums and me on bass and some accordion. I hope to see some of you at one or both of these gigs. Rob -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Dan --- Blake Miller, Millie Biere and AJ Srubas will be performing Cajun music and more at the Iron Post. From Lafayette, La., these three friends - all in their 20's - are part of energetic resurgence of Cajun and Creole music. Blake Miller (vocals accordion, fiddle & more) is the front-man of The Revelers, a national touring act based in Lafayette. He was a founding member of the Pine Leaf Boys and has played in many bands in recent years. A force on Cajun accordion, Blake has been steeped Cajun traditions all of his life. Originally from Dodgeville WI, Millie Biere (vocals, guitar & fiddle) has been playing French music for several years. A gifted singer, Millie is also a terrific rhythm guitarist. AJ Srubas is based in the Twin Cities (Minn.-St. Paul), where he plays fiddle and steel guitar with the New Riverside Ramblers, a terrific Cajun band. ### From lewart3 at gmail.com Thu Feb 23 04:16:17 2017 From: lewart3 at gmail.com (Daniel Lewart) Date: Wed, 22 Feb 2017 22:16:17 -0600 Subject: [Cajun-Zydeco] Fri Feb 24 5-7p Dennis Stroughmatt & Friends [Cajun/Creole] @ The Iron Post!!
