The page has a checkbox labeled
Will you be meshing with other Commotion devices over the ethernet interface?
, which one would simply expect to turn on meshing over ethernet. Although it does turn on meshing over ethernet, it also disabled meshing over the wireless interface, and turns off the olsrd dynamic gateway plugin. It also presents the user with IP address and Netmask text fields and turns of DHCP.

The page should instead simply add the wired interface to the list of olsrd interfaces, and leave the IP addressing and wireless mesh unmodified, as multiple nodes meshing over a switch (https://commotionwireless.net/docs/cck/installing-configuring/common-configuration/#”several-commotion-nodes-connected-through-a-switch-or-router”) is a more common scenario than two nodes meshed over an ethernet cable (https://commotionwireless.net/docs/cck/installing-configuring/common-configuration/#two-wireless-nodes-meshed-over-an-ethernet-connection).
