Carly-

Thanks for forwarding this- where does he fit into the intern process? Should we be considering him within that, or outside of it?

Subject: Internship Opportunities
Hello, my name is Jim Possley, and I'm a recent graduate from the
University of Illinois here in Urbana-Champaign. I just finished up my
BA with a Gender & Women's Studies concentration and a minor in
Anthropology, and am planning to remain in the community through this
upcoming summer. I am very interested in the UC-IMC as an organization
and indy media production in general, so I was hoping to get some
information about the availability of internships for the upcoming
Spring 2010 semester. If you could please get back to me with any
potential opportunities or relevant information, I would be extremely
grateful!!

Thanks,
Jim Possley

Hi Jim,

Have you seen the section of the IMC website about internships? http://www.ucimc.org/content/internships

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Carly

Yep, that's actually what got me interested in contacting you in the first place! Like I said, I'm really interested in you guys as an organization, and I really like what you do for the community. That said, I don't have a specific vision as to where I might fit in, but I am most intrigued by the Live Events, IMC/WRFU Outreach, and News Media Production internships. As a Gender & Women's Studies major, LGBT issues are what interest me most, and I would love the opportunity to work with and benefit that part of our community, through you guys if possible! Thanks for the response, and please just let me know if there is someone I should contact or if you have any other information that might benefit me in my search.

Thanks so much,
Jim Possley

Jim,

I can think of a ton of ways your efforts could fit into different missions of different groups. But first: are you still a student? Would you want to be getting academic credit for this internship? And have you attended any IMC meetings or events before?

I actually finished up my degree in December, so no I wouldn't need to receive academic credit for my involvement. And I haven't been to any IMC meetings or events, apart from attending a few concerts in your facility and visiting the bike project a couple of times for help! Basically, as I'm going to be remaining on campus at least through next semester so as to finish up my housing lease, I'd just like to get some kind of internship experience in a field that interests me (such as gender/sexuality based activism), and it sems like the IMC might be a good place to start.

Jim
