[Cprb] Urbana Proposal

I spoke with Danielle today at farmer's market about this and she would
like to sit down with us to make sure we've get everything in order. She
specifically mentioned that giving the council and chunk of paper and
saying "It's yours" wasn't going to go far.

I think that we should get the favorable urbana city council members in
on this meeting, their advice is of utmost importance.

Additionally, I think that there's no point in going to the Champaign
City council until after the next election in April 2005, unless we're
sure of support. Frankly, I'd like to see some people run on platforms
like this.

I would love to sit down and talk with everyone about this sometime
soon.

And in the meantime, I tried to look for other groups in the community
that
might diversify our group's racial make up.

I called up someone at the Don Moyer's Boys and Girls Club to ask for
suggestions on how to reach out to African American organizations in the
community and he suggested that we contact the Urban League and the
Housing
Authority as well as some of the churches in the area such as Canaan
(over
on Main), Church of the Living God, Bethel, and Morning Star Free Will
Baptist Church. I hope no one minds if I go ahead and bring some of
these
places the information that we already have? I want to do this on
Monday.

I will also have a friend bring a packet of info over to El Centro de
los
Trabajadores.

On campus the Campus Greens will be seeking co-sponsors as well. We
have a
list of about 40 groups that we intend to contact.

Anybody else want to contact some places??

Perhaps we should aim for the meeting where we fine tune our proposal to
be
on October 27th or 28th and we can invite our co-sponsoring group's
leaders
and then set a date for the next meeting where we ask those leaders to
bring
lots of people from their groups.
