[C-U Smokefree Announce] Smokefree Illinois

Hi all-
I wanted to let you know that I talked to State Senator Mike Frerichs last
week.  I talked to him about a Smokefree Illinois.  He needs to hear from *
you!*  He said he had only heard from bar owners and doesn't know how he is
going to vote.  He said he signed a card for Champaign and Urbana and he
appreciates the clean air in Champaign, Urbana and Springfield, but he needs
to know that the people who he represents are in favor of this, so please
call him and let him know that he needs to vote yes. He sad he needs to hear
from us.


*We desperately need your help! * The vote on House Bill 246 and Senate Bill
500 – the Smoke Free Illinois Act – is going to be very CLOSE!  We need your
legislators "YES" votes!  Please take a moment and make 2 short phone calls!


   - Please call Illinois State Senator Michael Frerichs at his district
   office, 355-5252, and ask him to vote "YES" on Senate Bill 500
   - Please call Illinois State Representative Naomi Jakobsson at her
   district office, 373-5000, and ask her to vote "YES" on House Bill 246.

 Talking points:

Everyone deserves a smoke free workplace!  No one should have to risk their
health for a paycheck.

The U.S. Surgeon General in his 2006 report said "there is no risk free
level of exposure to secondhand smoke".

80% of Illinois population does NOT smoke.

16 states are already smoke free.

Please make these calls TODAY!   Please ask your family, friends,
co-workers, neighbors to make these calls too!
