[CUWiN-Dev] IPv6 Addresses & Ad-Hoc CWNs:

Hi all,

It would seem to me that IPv6 space would be an extremely useful resource
for ad-hoc networks. I thought our plan was to use IPv6 addresses for
_internal_ routing among CUWiN nodes to help ensure unique IPs. I still
don't understand why this isn't a good idea. Currently, we hash MACs to
get an IPv4 number for internal routing purposes -- which means that the
nodes do not have unique addresses. With IPv6, we could ensure that the
addresses were unique. And it's true that we'd still need to address
duplication (e.g., from spoofed MACs) and other problems, but all of these
problems are also present in the current IPv4 system. In my mind, IPv6
would solve one of the issues we're currently facing that would limit
scalability. And while it's true, it doesn't solve many other issues,
it's at least a step in the right direction.

What do other folks think?
