It is not and has never been a money-making event. Funds raised through grants and registration fees are always spent on food and drink during the event or reimbursing the travel of participants who need travel funding.</div>

Compared to other events we have done at c-base the summit will be much bigger and international. It requires a lot more planning and logistics, so that an early registration of participants is a prerequisite to help us make it a good event for everyone.<br>
The enterence fee is mainly to cover food and some social events as we want to put most of the funded money into travelling bursaries for people from other countries an continents.<br>
If someone can not afford the fee, then they should just let us know and we will try to find a solution for this on an individual basis.<br>
We are also just recently working on a general discount for community members.<br>
So please do not be unfair. We are trying our best to make everyone happy. I would really appreciate if you and other people from NINUX were joining this international event. Just let us know who needs support.<br>

Hello all,<br>

there is a big talking in the past 3 weeks about the wireless summit at the<br>
C-Base in the beginning of October.<br>
the big talking is about the ticket for entering at the event, that shocked<br>
most of the foreigners that attended previous events at C-Base.<br>
I have been around the C-Base for several years now, and I attended many<br>
wireless events. In all of them we had meals, and all the people were<br>
really participating. People doing videos, streaming, doing talks. People<br>
freely donated money when arriving, to make everything possible. The recent<br>
Wireless Community Weekend 2013 is a perfect example of that.<br>
In my opinion an event where you have to pay a ticket to get inside is not<br>
representative of this community.<br>
Anyone should be able to get in without paying the ticket and see what we<br>
have to say.<br>
I have a good job and I can afford both travelling and entrance ticket. But<br>
how I can invite a lot of young students, if we put such barriers ? I dont<br>
feel comfortable inviting young people. Wireless community is not a job for<br>
them , is something they do as activists.<br>
What are these EU projects sponsoring if we need to make people pay a<br>
ticket to get in ? What are the sponsors for ?<br>
And morover, event the CCC congress and camping have cheaper tickets !<br>
Because of this, my idea at the moment is NOT to participate. I will be at<br>
the C-Base again for wireless community weekend 2014.<br>
Wireless community is grassroots, it is NOT business. I have the feeling<br>
that the New America Foundation has a "business approach" that does not<br>
match well with the European way of developing wireless community networks.<br>

Since 2004, the Summit has never turned away anyone for inability to pay -- this<br>
has always been a hallmark of the International Summit for Community Wireless<br>
Networks. We do, of course, welcome volunteers and other barter arrangements,<br>
but don't turn people away who would be unable to afford the registration costs.<br>
Registration includes breakfast and lunch on each of the main Summit days and<br>
we also try to do 1-2 social evenings where we cover as much of those costs as<br>
well.<br>
