For the past four months seven African-American girls from Franklin Middle
School in Champaign have been hard at work on an hour long radio show to
explore segregation and equity in the schools.

Kimberlie Kranich of WILL and Dr. William Patterson of Innovative Ed
teamed up to direct the show.

The girls have collected stories from local Black residents who were in
local schools in the years before and after the Brown v. Board decision.

This is a phenomenal project that expands our understanding of local
history and the meaning of equity in education. I hope you will be able
to listen:

Saturday, May 5 @ 5 PM on WILL AM 580
Monday, May 17th @ 6 PM on WILL AM 580

It is also archived on the web starting today at:
http://www.will.uiuc.edu/community/ourjourney/

Please send your feedback to Kimberlie at kranich at uiuc.edu.

thanks!

Danielle
