The UC Books to Prisoners Project will be hosting a Packathon this 
Saturday!!!

When:  this Saturday, November 13, at 3 pm
Where:  at the Independent Media Center (218 W. Main - Urbana)
What:  We will be packing up books to send to prisoners!

Who we are:
To address the poor selection of books available in many prison libraries, 
to help, to encourage literacy, to share our enthusiasm for literature, 
because it is fun, and to educate ourselves and the public about life in 
prison, we open letters from prisoners, pick out one or two books for them 
that best meet their needs, and write them back. We also encourage pen pal 
relations with prisoners.

We feel that this is really valuable work, but the number of organizers in 
this collective is really small at the moment.  We are hoping that this 
packathon will not only accomplish the goal of sending books out to 
prisoners, but will also attract more people to the collective.  However, if 
the UC Books to Prisoners Project is unable to attract more organizers, it 
will not be able to survive.
