Cyrus,
Assuming we are trying to move toward a decision, I think it's implict 
that over the course of these meetings we are moving toward a 
resolution. They are not simply informational, but need to be the basis 
for action.

It should be noted that there also sems to be some confusion over the 
scope of authorized action for the Steering group. For buying a bulding, 
yes, there has to be a decision made at a membership meeting. For 
renting, the Steering group is already empowered to enter into an 
agreement. Our discussions have encompassed both scenarios.

The present scenario may indeed eventually include a purchase, but may 
stop short of that or eventually include an agreement to purchase, thus 
my formulation "possibly finalize a decision". As in all such 
complicated endeavours, it requires face-to-face discussion, as well as 
the need for confidentiality on lists that are public, so I can't give 
you more detail than that here.

This process has been the subject of extensive notice and previous 
discussion. There are also some time pressures involved that could 
result in our missing an opportunity that we may very well regret. It is 
in the best interest of every memeber and working group at the IMC to 
help in moving expeditiously and in an open manner toward a conclusion, 
whether that's tonight or possibly requiring the additional time needed 
for an item that might require approval of the entire membership.

Even assuming that the outcome tonight does require another meeting, 
which it may or may not, the shape of such a proposal will be formed 
this evening. Since we all really want to have these issues formed into 
something that we all can agree on, it is rather important that you 
attend the meeting this evening if you feel that your concerns need to 
be addressed before the fact.
