Hi Suzanne, Susan, and IMC-supervisors,

How are the applications looking for the pother groups? I had one candidate
apply through the AmeriCorps page. I emailed her asking for a resume and
cover letter and am waiting for her reply. For all the positions, I have
had at least 8-10 people contact me about applying and they are putting
their applications together now. It may still need some time. As Brian
Dolinar pointed out, a lot of folks are away now but will be back in town
shortly.
We have till mid/late September to get the AmeriCorps started, so we can
always renew the postings and extend the deadline. (Sorry, my information
from the state commission keeps changing).

I am concerned, but we can extend the deadline if need be. I think it takes
a little time to get applications in order. Also, we can hire students or
people with other sources of income. This is different from the VISTA
rules. So, while we don't want a full time student or someone with a part
time job, this really opens up the applicant pool.

For now:
I've got the jobs posted on the AmeriCorps site, the IMC site, the NAMAC job
bank, there is a PSA on RFU and WEFT (I hope they are reading it!) and a
slide on UPTV. I've sent it to a Women Action, and Media List serv I'm on.
Today, I'm posting it to the Parkland and U of I job banks. On the IMC
home page, the article has had 321 reads...I know many of them are mine,
but not all! I need to repost to Craigslist - some were deleted and I'm not
sure why. It's also posted to the IMC FaceBook page.

Please send this notice to any and all list serves open to you. If anyone
has any ideas for how we can spread the word, please let the list know. If
someone could price out an ad in the news gazette, perhaps we can make it
about all 8 positions and direct ppl to the ucimc website. It is really
expensive to post on Illinoishomepage.net - $149 per job! We didn't budget
for this, but it is certainly worth considering alternatives. Anyone with
a contact at Smile Politely?? A story there might reach more young people.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Nicole
