[Imc-supervisors] An opportunity for all IMC Americorps?

Hello supervisors and Americorps members:

I'm one of the Books to Prisoners supervisors and was pleased to meet a few more of you yesterday and earlier.

In meeting with Carol, Brian Dolinar, and Tony yesterday, we spoke briefly about the interconnections among our projects. I was prompted to ask whether any Americorps staffers would like to become jail librarians? We're not trying to poach time from a very busy group, but it's not a huge commitment---maybe 3 hours every 5 weeks or so.

As you may know, we stock and staff the libraries at the two county jails (the downtown one is just across from the courthouse, and very accessible.) Librarians have to be 21, have a simple background check, and be fingerprinted. All the info is here:

It's always interesting, often fun, and gives insight into a part of the community our projects all want to connect with, one way or another. For that matter, supervisors might be interested too...in your spare time.

I believe any in the Americorps group who are interested should check with your supervisors first, and then ask Judith for information. (judith.pond at gmail.com) She can put people in touch with Nancy Griffin, the program coordinator at the jails.

Thanks,
Susan Bruce
