   Who is the IMC?
Jacob Barton

Jacob Barton, connoisseur of highfalutin ideas, has been an AmeriCorps
member at the IMC since October 2009. He is the program coordinator of the
School for Designing a Society, a project which teaches social change,
composition, performance, and language as things essential to one another.
This fall, SDaS is offering several classes in the Family Room downstairs
at the IMC. Jacob also works with the ODDMUSIC Working Group, a collective
of wacky composers and instrument builders who run a musical instrument
lending library and offer classes and workshops on various items odd and
musical. As a musician, he mostly sings and plays trombone and udderbot, an
instrument of his own devising.

BAG, A Photographic Installation by Ellie Brown
 [image: BAGwebsitepromo.jpg]
 September 1st-29th
  Sun Room Gallery

With a concept created by Camille Thoman, Ellie Brown photographed people
and their bags in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York and Urbana. The
concept behind the project is to compare our notions of public vs. private
with what we show to outwardly and what we hide in our bags. The purpose of
the project is also to examine what people are or are not materially
attached to and why we as a whole carry around the things we do.

The project lets the viewer decide their own judgements about the person and
their bag based on the contents shown and listed. A bag is something most
people share but the contents are as unique as each individual displayed in
the exhibition. The BAG project is funded in part by the Urbana Arts
Council.

sick front man, belting out the lyrics with a passion, Steve and Andy
playing guitar, Kyle killing it on bass, and Tyler on drums. Theirs is a
sound uniquely their own with their southern charm and ska influences on
bass.
