Subject: Participation in UC-IMC Open House // Working Group Members needed!
(please circulate)
To: IMC - ALL <imc at ucimc.org>

A very special Open House to celebrate the UC-IMC’s 10th Anniversary and to
launch its Sustainers Fund drive has been scheduled on Saturday, October 16
from 7:00-9:00 p.m. We on the Sustainer’s Fund Committee (*see members below
*) want to request your group’s participation in this event.

If you haven't heard, the Sustainers Fund is being created to accomplish
three specific goals: (1) to pay off the UC-IMC’s mortgage, (2) to assist in
paying building operational costs, and (3) to make contributions to the
emergency fund established to address major expenses such as roof or boiler
repairs. Money raised for these purposes will reduce overhead expenses for
the UC-IMC as a whole and thus reduce the financial burden placed on each of
your groups to contribute money for these purposes. In other words, it will
allow your group to use more of its own funds for programmatic initiatives.

What we would like to request from each group is that it set up a table in
the IMC Sunroom that will “showcase” its program to the public and
especially to prospective Sustaining Fund contributors. It would be good to
have *at least* one staff member or volunteer at the table to distribute
material and answer questions. We would like to request that groups refrain
from fundraising activities of their own on this particular occasion,
although they may distribute brochures that may include information about
their own efforts in this regard.

In some cases (e.g., Books-to-Prisoners, ODDmusic, WRFU, Makerspace), we
would also like to request that groups have a person available in their IMC
space to serve as “tour guides” for attendees who would like to see their
facilities. Projects that aren't technically working groups (viz. the Bike
Project) are encouraged to participate!!

Finally, we would like to request that each group identify a spokesperson
willing to present a short 2-4 minute overview of its program in conjunction
with a short business meeting at 8:00 p.m.

We hope all of you are as enthusiastic as we are to promote the UC-IMC in
general as well as your individual programs on this special occasion and to
help us launch a campaign that will strongly support all of these efforts.
Please contact Austin McCann
(*austinmccann at ucimc.org*<http://email00.secureserver.net/compose.php?sendto=austinmccann%40ucimc.org>)
to let us know whether your group will be participating and exactly how
you’ll be doing that (by providing table, tour site, speaker, etc.). Thank
you!
