authorized a time away form that will encompass this date, you are excused.

Dear AmeriCorps*State Program:

The 2011 Illinois National Service Recognition Day will be held on October
13, 2011 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center and the State Capitol in
Springfield, Illinois.  We expect around 900 AmeriCorps and other National
Service members from around the state to be in Springfield for the event and
look forward to your program being a part of the day’s events.

The celebration will begin with an optional service project at 10:00 a.m.
(details forthcoming) followed by lunch at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie Capital
Convention Center.  Around 11:30 a.m., several speakers will provide
encouragement and professional development messages for Members.  At 2:45
p.m., the Members will begin their march from the Convention Center to the
State Capitol Complex.  On the steps of the Capitol, Members will reaffirm
their Oath of Service to America.******

This event is a great opportunity for your program to network with other
national service programs and to inspire your AmeriCorps Members for the
coming service year.  As a reminder, your program is *required** *to attend

register your program by September 30th.  Serve Illinois is asking programs
to only register those members who you know will be able to attend the
event.  In an effort to cut down on unnecessary expense and waste, the
Commission will invoice programs for the cost of extra meals, at cost of the
meal (approximately $20), for meals which are requested and not used.  If
the number of un-used meals exceeds 20% of the registered number of members
for the event, this reimbursement will be requested from your agency.****
