thanks chris

a few things :

after we got our heads around financials from last year, we approved a contract for the GEO printer/copier at finance. our only questions were: can we network it? does it print and not just copy?

i thought we already had the printer/copier at the IMC - is this not true?

who can a) get the GEO printer/copier b) set up the contract and have them invoice the IMC and c) network the bugger so we can use it from multiple locations?

what is missing now is not money or decisions but someone to implement a decision.

also, is anyone looking at cost of servicing the brother? i don't think we need to buy a new printer (although having some donated backups is great), we need to fix the one that we have unless it is more expensive than buying new.

OJC has a totally functional laser jet i am close to getting donated.

- danielle

On Tue, Feb 15, 2011 at 9:46 AM, Chris Ritzo <chris.ritzo@gmail.com> wrote:
voice of support for Finance. I can't make it to the meeting on
Thursday at 4:30, but wanted to voice support from tech. Brian and I
will continue to support the installation and configuration of current
or future printers.

One option that might help temporarily is to clean the print heads.
This may stop jamming temporarily. The manual for the Brother printer
is in the right-hand drawer of the Finance desk which details the
cleaning procedure. This type of routine maintenance is something the
working group should handle (unless there's some sort of maintenance
contract, like is being discussed for a new printer).

If Finance is still interested in the printer that the GEO was
offering, Brian's contact was Stephanie Seawell at the GEO.
<stephseawell@gmail.com>. The Ikon representative for a service
contract for the GEO printer/copier is Jeremy Bennett
<jerbennett@ikon.com>. Brian can provide details about appropriate
page counts if this is the direction Finance decides to go.

As always, if working groups have support requests, please email the
Tech Listserv so we both have a record of the request and can respond
in a timely manner. imc-tech@lists.chambana.net

Thanks for doing what you do, Finance! Please let us know what you
decide to do about the printer(s) and where you need Tech's
assistance.
