[IMC-US-tech] the dada code

Hi all,
i have been out of the loop for a while now and i apologize. Just now
going through the archives and i see i missed quite a few good debates.
oh well. next time.
But im writing now to bring up a serious concern i have since my local
IMC transfered its code to dada. As you can imagine, it was quite a
painstaking process especially for our super-techie Patrick (cc'd
here). We were all very excited about it though, because of all the
promises of a super efficient website easy to edit, maintain, add
modules too etc. But what we didnt realize is that the code is not made
for heavy traffic websites and are now discovering that it takes
minutes to load a page even from a DSL connection.
Apparently, the code works great on smaller sites, but considering IMC
US is likely to have much more traffic than NYC IMC, I am worried IMCUS
is building a site that is too heavy for itself. (if that makes sense)
NYC IMC is now switching to MIR. I know nothing about MIR, but have
heard that it handles heavy traffic better. I would like to know if
there are any other techies here that have had contrasting experiences
with these two codes.
Thanks for considering
ana
