I am glad we had the all-volunteer discussion at the conference. It
was good to hear from so many people on the topic.

My concern right now is that I have been speaking of the concerns from
the rest of the network without really having the stats to back up my
impressions. I think, however, that if there is consistent concern
about IMCs having any paid staff around the world, that we should
certainly take it into consideration. A decision of the us-imc to be
an all volunteer collective may or may not be important to other IMCs.

What I propose to do next is to get a straw poll from IMCs in this
hemisphere, to ask if they were aware IMCs are currently allowed to
pay staff, if they have concerns about the existence of IMCs with paid
staff, and if the us-imc decaring itself all-volunteer would matter to
them, etc. I think it is important that we get feedback from the
global south on this, and perhaps by just focusing on this hemisphere
first, I could get a fairly comprehensive set of feedback without
having to translate into too many languages. Do people support this
attempt to get more feedback? Would someone from NYC or UC want to
help me to write the questions to make them more balanced since I am
quite openly in favor of our collective and others declaring
themselves all-volunteer?

Peace
Nick
