We at the San Diego Independent Media Center believe
that the
corporatization of the media has had a crippling
effect on the ability
of the labor movement to gain popular support and
solidify its core
membership. Corporations pay millions of dollars for
PR campaigns which
create false representations of their companies in the
eyes of the
public, while under-funded labor unions and consumer
advocacy groups,
without equal access to the airwaves, lack fair or
accurate
representations of their issues. In effect, we are
teaming up with
various labor advocacy groups across the country to
host a premiere of
WAL-MART: The High Cost of Low Prices.

This documentary, directed and produced by Big Noise
Film's Robert
Greenwald, maker of OutFoxxed, takes viewers behind
the glitz and into
the real lives of workers and their families, business
owners and their
communities. It is an extraordinary journey that will
challenge the way
you think, feel... and shop. PREMIERE WEEK is November
13th-19th. 3000+
screenings in 19 countries and all 50 states are
already in the works
for the largest grassroots mobilization in movie
history.

If you would like to help us put this event on - We
are looking to
raise $500 before Friday, November 11. By donating
between $20-$30
(depending on what you feel comfortable giving) we
will reserve you a
seat at our screening and a copy of the DVD - the
perfect gift for your
conservative WAL-MART loving relatives!

The screening is Friday, November 17th, 8pm, at Voz
Alta.

Contact Ablukens at yahoo.com for details and send your
donations to me!

Thanks
