EUGENE DEBS AND THE CONTINUING LABOR STRUGGLE

Several local socialists attended the 35th Annual Eugene V. Debs Dinner
on Nov. 11, 2000 in Terre Haute. After a visit to Debs' house, which is
a museum of his life and struggle in defense of workers and their
rights, this recording was made for the IMC by Mike Lehman.

There will be a brief intro by Jack Sheinkman, President of the Debs
Foundation. This will be followed by a presentation of the "Union Man"
Award to Mike Sullivan, this year's Debs Award winner, by Ken Zeller,
President of the Indiana AFL-CIO. Anne Feeney will debut a new song of
hers that reminds us that today's struggles are the same ones that Debs
fought. Finally, Mike Sullivan, President of the Sheet Metal Workers
International and this year's Debs Award winner, will reflect on his
life's work in organizing and empowering workers, inspired by the
message and philosophy of Eugene Debs.
