More from Glenn, who visited with Petridish last summer to help us
figure out paperwork:

You are receiving this message because you attended a Prometheus Radio
Project / Americans for Radio Diversity (ARD) LPFM workshop in
Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Illinois during July. Please pass on this info
to people that attended the workshops that may not have access to
e-mail.

"Anti-LPFM" legislation sponsored by Minnesota Senator Rod Grams is
getting close to being attached to a spending bill making it near
impossible for it to be vetoed. If you support the LPFM iniative, now is
the time to act. Below is an action iniative sponsored by the
Prometheus Radio Project. If these ideas sound like they might take to
much of your time, you can send a quick letter to your senator via the
internet by visting the Low Power Radio Coalition's legislative action
center at http://congress.nw.dc.us/lpr

Minnesota residents look for the clip and send coupon that was part of
an pro-LPFM ad in this Sunday's Star Tribune (Oct. 8th) sponsored by the
Media Access Project, the Public Media Center, and Americans for Radio
Diversity. It also can be downloaded as pdf file at
http://www.beatworld.com/MAP_ARD_LPFM_ad_100800.pdf

Thanks for listening,

>From the Prometheus Radio Project:

Hot off the Press!

You got Prometheus's alert to send your Senator your radio (see below),

now prepare for
Phase two- send Senator Rod Grams another one!

Rod Grams is the architect of S.3020, an anti low power radio bill that
will
eviscerate the new FCC service. More than anyone, he deserves to get
flooded with your radios. On Saturday, hundreds of radios are going in
the
mail to Senator Grams. On Tuesday, the media will be notified through
fax,
email and phone calls that these radios should be flooding in to his
office on
Tuesday and Wednesday.

West Philly and Prometheus Radio Project are going to represent in force

tomorrow night at a house party with the goal of sending out a hundred
radios
from a hundred different people tomorrow- but we need many more from
around the country. Please try to get them out tomorrow, but if not,
still send
them as late as Tuesday.
Let us know how many you are sending, and where from so we can tell the
press on Tuesday. If you want to talk to the press about your delivery,
let us
know! Contact pete tridish, 215-476-2385 for more information

Here is a good sample note to send to Grams with your radio- enjoy
yourself
writing your own.
Rod Grams, (R - MN)
257 DIRKSEN SENATE OFFICE BUILDING
WASHINGTON DC 20510
 (202) 224-3244
Dear Senator Grams,
Why do you hate Community Radio? I used to listen to my radio a lot, but

ever since the congress passed the Telecommunications Act of 1996, most
of
the radio stations in my town are owned by the same two or three
corporations. And since Congress always takes money away from public
radio, they've been taking more and more commercials and nowadays they
are little more than a snobby version of commercial radio. And now,
with a
sneaky Washington political insider maneuver, you want to wreck the
FCC's
excellent new plan to create local community radio. What's wrong with
you?
Don't you ever listen to the radio and hear what a mess you are making?
Well, I give up. Since you seem to be hell-bent on taking away community

radio, I'm just not going to listen anymore. Here is my radio, You can
have
it. You'll be the only one left to listen to it anymore, at the rate
things are
going. If you lose your Senate race because of what you did to low power

radio, at least you'll be able to listen to all of your commercial
broadcaster
buddies on my radio. Next time you let a special interest group buy your

vote, ask yourself if angering your constituents and American Citizens
in
General was worth the $7000 you got.

Don't tell me that your dumb bill is a compromise. Everyone knows it's
just a
tricky way to stall until there is are new FCC Commissioners. And don't
tell
me about the Reading Services for the Blind, because you know that not
one
person is going to lose their reading service because of the FCC plan.
Try to
come up with some new excuses to pander for the big broadcasters, next
time.

Thanks for nothing, and enjoy the radio.
