What follows is a response from the Chicago Indymedia center to Paul's
request that we collaborate with them.  Looks like paul will be meeting
with them this Saturday in Chicago and they're into the idea of coming to
visit us here.

your timing is impeccable, since we're having our second chicago indymedia 
general meeting this saturday at noon, September 30, Loyola University's 
Marquette Center, 2nd floor Alumni Lounge, 47 E. Pearson. it would be totally 
excellent if you could make this meeting -- i could hook you up with some of 
our techs, other activists, et al. this project is really new in chicago, 
altho a few of us have been hustling on the back end w/seattle and la 
indymedia contacts for a few months to get a group together. i personally 
remain flabbergasted that we got 35 people to our first meeting on 9/16 -- 
and the tech working group had a site up in a matter of days. a lot of us 
didn't even really know each other until the first meeting.

re your suggestion about coming down for dinner to brainstorm w/champaign 
folks about a local imc -- that would be great, and i can help facilitate 
that, but i think it would be more productive for you-all if we could get 
some of our tech folks down there, as well. if you can make the meeting on 
saturday, we can try to hook this up then.

the saturday meeting w/likely go on for a while, so if you can't make the 
whole thing, maybe you could stop by around 1:30 and we could try to drag a 
few folks out for lunch before your gig to do some conspiring. what do you 
think?

it sounds like you have a really great group coming together in champaign. i 
also think chicago folks w/be thrilled at the chance to collaborate more 
closely w/our neighbors down south. we're also in (irregular) contact w/folks 
up in madison, who also got their site on line recently, and cleveland has 
also been up for a couple of weeks now, as well -- we've crossposted a little 
from their site, and i would like to reach out to them, as well. so maybe we 
could also talk about tightening up a more regional consortium to share info, 
tech skills, organizing strategies, etc.
