Hi Impeach Jeb Bush,

A New York based group, DemocracyMarch, is initiating "Not My
President's Day" on 2/18 to protest Bush's illegitimacy and
illegitimate agenda on the day before Presidents Day.

So far New York, Florida, North Washington state, L.A. and Virginia
are planning this and information is still comming in from other
states.  The event in Florida is the 19th and is being put on by the
Oral Majority-- oralmajorityonline.com  You can email Grace at
Glimei at aol.com about this and other oralmajority events.  If people
cannot travel to where the oral majority event will be and want to
put on their own event closer to them or know of people in other
states that would be interested, read on.

The idea of the event is that since Bush is illegitimate, his agenda
is equally illegitimate.  This way we make the illegitimacy theme
more relevant to what is going on now in terms of his trying to push
through his extremist,unmandated, dangerous agenda.  And we can ask
people to try to block this agenda because of its illegitimacy, as
well as not agreeing with it.  In other words, if a President
legitimately won an election, we might protest different aspects of
his agenda for various reasons, but because Bush actually stole the
election, it is outrageous that he should try to impose this
illigitimate agenda on the American people.

By focusing in this way on his agenda we can bring in other
progressive groups that object to various parts of it:
anti-environmental, anti-choice, anti-gay, pro star wars "missile
defense" boondoggle, pro huge tax cut for the rich--decimating the
budget for anything else, as well as tying it in to campaign finance
reform and voting reform.  People from these groups could speak at a
rally and/or encourage members to participate.

If you can think of an historic site with Presidential symbolism that
would be ideal.  Otherwise, anything you can get a permit for.  The
event could be street theatre, speakers at a rally, and/or a march,
or even a teach in.

You would be in charge of getting your local media, and if you tell
us about it in advance we will also put it in a national press
release along with other groups doing it around the country.  I have
already gotten about 30 responses and I just put this out!

Also, if you are an individual in search of a group somewhere other
than New York, I'll keep you posted if I hear about anyone else in
your area. Meanwhile, please scroll down these two lists to find your
local area and post something to make your own group
