Marianne Ferber will be a guest-in-residence at Unit One/Allen Hall, 1005
W. Gregory, Urbana, February 25-March 3. Her opening program "From the
Bohemian Forest to the big university" will take place Monday, February 26
at 9pm in the South Rec Room of Allen Hall.

Marianne Ferber was born in Czechoslovakia and fled the Holocaust with her
family. She went on to become Professor of Economics and Women's Studies
at the University of Illinois and a pioneer in the study of women and
work. She explores such issues as the earnings gap between women and men,
women's and men's work in the home and in the labor market, barriers to
women in academia, student attitudes towards women's and men's roles in
the labor market and in the home, and public policy. She is co-editor of
Work and Families, Beyond Academic Man, Academic Couples, editor of Women
in the Labor Force, and co-author of The Economics of Women, Men, and
Work. She has published in economics, education, sociology, and women's
studies journals and serves on the editorial board of several journals.
