Dear IMC members,

Thank you for your piece on permaculture last night. I had never even heard
the term before, and now I'm thinking about planting a perennial garden in
my front lawn (at least I already leave my leaves on the ground ;-).

I'm a member of the programming committee at WEFT. As such, I'd like to
offer some feedback. I'm speaking as an individual and not for the entire
PC. Others on the PC who have comments can give you their feedback if they
wish.

Praise:

The alternating of news stories between hosts held my attention better than
if a single host had read all news reports.

The audio quality of the pre-produced pieces was very very good with one
exception: the piece on water had some regular "p-popping" disturbances and
at one point in the piece the audio was barely audible. This dip in audio
was adjusted rather quickly.

The host did a good job of introducing the program, noting why it was
different from what was originally scheduled, and identifying the IMC as the
program producers and the mission of the IMC. This gave me as a listener
some valuable context.

The variety of ways in which you told the story of permaculture - skits,
personal essays, and reports - was engaging and challenging. I had to
listen hard to understand what was going on. I see this as a positive,
others may see it as frustrating. Each listener is different.

I knew nothing about permaculture and now I have some idea about what it is
from people who are passionate about it. I prefer to learn about things
that are new to me in this way.

Suggestions from improvement:

This first two are not suggestions, but musts: you must read the statement
about "Free Speech Radio News" after Free Speech Radio News is over and
before you go into your program. The announcement is in the red
underwriter's notebook under "Monday." After having done so, I'd suggest
the legal i.d and then a tease of what's to come (i.e. your program) and
then I'd suggest the opening song.

The PC approved a program on the U of I's School Climate Survey for
Champaign Schools. When you knew that program would have to be postponed,
you must inform the PC. We need to be in the know, that's all. In
addition, I can then update the sign in the booth to properly promote your
program. This note about these special programs is to be read by every
airshifter at least once per shift.

Identify yourselves, hosts. We want to know that you are IMC people but
also your names.

That's it. Good job. Thoughtful. Passionate. Different. I'm pleased
that the IMC is contributing so much to local public affairs and news with
views. Thanks for your efforts.
