Please Forward (and forgive duplicate postings):

Laura Hershey will be a guest-in-residence at Unit One/Allen Hall from Jan
29-Feb 3. Her opening program will take place Monday, January 29 at 9pm in
the South Rec Room of Allen Hall and is titled "Cure Society, Not Me:
Reframing Disability as a Civil Rights Issue."

Laura Hershey is a disability rights leader and poet. She educates and
agitates whenever possible to promote the rights of people with
disabilities. Her efforts have earned her a President's Award, a Watson
Fellowship, a Colorado College honorary degree, a World Institute on
Disability Fellowship, and several trips to jail for acts of civil
disobedience. Hershey's programs address the ways the disability rights
movement has the potential to challenge, expand, and transform political
action in the United States.

Laura will be offering programs all week at Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory,
Urbana. All programs are open to the public and wheelchair accessible. A
complete schedule will be posted Sunday night at:
