Book Art Study Collective Sunday 6PM IMC: Everyone is invited to bring a
book.

We've been meeting at the IMC Sundays at 6 to show each other hand-made
books, unfinished books, texts, and ideas for books. Already this has
served as an incentive for us to blow dust of stalled projects, and we're
interested in pursuing it.

Pauline is now Treasurer and Architectural Resource Specialist. We are
interested in having a Book Opening in the fall. We are also interested in
setting up a bookmaking studio, where we consolidate our bookmaking
resources which, so far, consist of a saddle stapler, a paper cutter, and
glue. This studio could also have a variety of paper and cardstock, a
computer-controlled copier, equipment for perfect binding, and a little
bird that rides a bicycle powering a record player. Give Pauline all
your money, or simply offer us your home.

Rob is Untitled. His "Free Food Production Prairie" is now in print: a
brief but virulent eco-polemic followed by some straightforward
descriptions of plants. Ask him for a copy.

I unanimously voted myself Literature Facilitator. This week I'm doing
outreach. My production of Tom Hendricks' book of 67 sentences is inching
along between computer failures.

Here are other things that I, and perhaps you, are interested in:

* Having a talented book designer who shall remain nameless give us a
introduction to Book Design.

* Learning bookmaking software such as Pagemaker, Quark, and Framemaker.

* Learning how to be an erudite, opinionated user of fonts, or having
one talk to us.

* Studying the surprisingly didactic arts of typography and book design
by reading books and distilling them for one another.

* Taking a car and hitting every office supply store, art store, and
printer in town in search of legal-size chartreuse cardstock, laminate,
and inexpensive or nice binding alternatives.

* Show and tell: bringing in unusual books to share

* Collaborating on books

* Writing Bea Nettles a fan letter

* Making books, basically, is what we want to do, as far as I understand
it. Yep.

It may prove to be a galleon with sails of paper on which we will cross a
sea of ink.

You know?

This message was made out of recycled electrons.
