Here are the minutes for last thursday's Librarians' meeting. There were
no minutes for the previous week because it was a work meeting. We decided
that meetings would alternate between work and thinking meetings. Next
week is a work meeting.

Present: Ellen, James

UPDATE:

The circulation system is up and running. James bought stamps, ink pads,
and sundry items to get it up and going. There is a clipboard at the desk
with directions for "how to check out an IMC item" and "How to process an
IMC item". About 1/2 of the collection has been stickered, stamped and
processed.
Ellen is almost finished with a shelf-list. This will then be dumped into
the database sometime in the future.

BRAINSTORMING:

1. Collection development: We set a date of March 31st as the deadline for
contacting publishers about donating journal subscriptions.

2. other ideas for collection development: Ellen will contact Jo Kibbee
and Ann Bishop at GSLIS regarding reference materials' collection (Kibbee)
and general funding (Bishop). James will contact John Dunkelberger/Urbana
Free Library about donations of reference materials. He will also make
contacts to several folks at UIUC about receiving Government reference
publications.

3. We will begin work on a proposal to the steering group regarding
collection funds. We would like to have a monthly stipend in order to
actually start collecting library materials.

4. An archive dropbox will be created (Thanks to the Pauls for their
idea!) where creators will be able to submit archival material in manilla
envelopes with a (yet-to-be-created) form stating the envelope's content.
Manilla envelopes, it is felt, will make the archive easier to organize
because of uniform size.

5. Public Service Announcements to WEFT, WILL and other media outlets
regarding library donations.

6. Creation of a library website.

7. Creation of a web form for people to submit pathfinders. This form will
be similar to the publication form on the main site. We hope to have an
online collection of pathfinders (FAQs) for easy reference to interesting
topics. The form is imagined to be a space for name, contact info,
paragraph description of issue, and 5-10 links to online information about
the issue.

8. Grant-writing for collection development.

NEXT MEETING:

March 8 at 5:15pm at the IMC. This will be a work meeting.
