Here is a final draft of the proposal to have Groogroo become a community
webhosting project of the UCIMC. Please send all comments to:
Zach Miller <wolfgang at wolfgang.groogroo.com> and
Sascha Meinrath <meinrath at ucimc.org>.
We have talked about this proposal at the steering committee before and I
encourage all interested people to come. This an incredible opportunity
for the UCIMC to begin offering extensive internet services to the local
community.
I hope we will be able to pass it at our next meeting this Sunday at Noon.

*** IMC Community Webhosting Proposal ***

If this proposal is accepted the UC-IMC will commit to raising funds for
the Groogroo webserver run by Zachary Miller based on the Fee
Structure below. The UC-IMC will ear mark all funds raised for this
purpose. Each month the UC-IMC will pay Zachary Miller $210/month
unless no funds so earmarked are available.
The Fundraising Focus Group may choose to borrow up to 2 months of
payments ($420) from general funds if incoming earmarked funds are
anticipated but not yet received.
Payments will be made to Zachary Miller on the 1st of every month
starting with a payment for December 1st.
If Zachary Miller's operating costs for the Groogroo server change a
new arrangement will be negotiated with the IMC steering committee.
Any additional funds beyond $2520/year that are raised by the UC-IMC
earmarked for Groogroo may be placed in the general IMC funds and
allocated for any normal UC-IMC expenses.
Zachary Miller will not charge the UC-IMC for the Groogroo services
and pledges all profits from fees charged for Groogroo services to
UC-IMC as long as the UC-IMC raises funds to support Groogroo
operations. At no time should Zachary Miller expect payment from the
UC-IMC if earmarked funds are not expected to be available.
The Fundraising Focus group will work with Zachary Miller to help
contact and recruit clients.
The Technology Focus group will work with Zachary Miller to help
maintain the Groogroo server.

All services require at least one member of the organization or the
organization itself to be a member of the Urbana Indymedia Center.
These fees are suggested donations. If a client has special needs
alternative pricing can be negotiated with the UC-IMC fundraising
focus group.
None of these packages imply any particular level of user level
technical support beyond reasonable host stability. If users have
special technical support (application support, user hand holding, web
design, etc.) needs they may have to negotiate special pricing.
Basic Services - $30/year
Includes one non-email account, one email list, and one very
low traffic (<10MB/month) website in the groogroo domain.
Full Standalone User Account - $60/year
Includes POP3 email access, shell, mysql, unix mail, ftp, user
home page, 10MB storage, etc.
Full Services Hosting - $100/year
Includes DNS hosting for up to 2 domains, unix group for
admin, mysql access, 2 full user accounts, 2 email lists,
statistics, up to 30 forwarding mail aliases.
Up to 1GB transfers/month. Up to 50MB of disk space.
Server Colocation - $60/year
up to 4GB/mo transfers
The following services can be added on to the Full Services hosting
package or the Server Colocation package.
Additional Bandwidth - $5/mo/GB
Additional Disk Space - $20/year/GB
Additional Limitted User - $10/year/user
Additional DNS Hosting - $20/year/dom
Additional Email List - $10/year/list
Multimedia Hosting (streaming and large files transfers) - $40/year
This is an additional fee on top of the transfer fees.
Active Tree - $20/year/tree
This gives a client their own "active" tree so they can use a
copy of indymedia style software.

Groogroo for free. Some of them have not even been contacted. Some may
be unwilling to pay for service. Some may be willing to pay for more
