Job Description
Campaign Coordinator

  The 50 Years Is Enough: U.S. Network for Global Economic
Justice is a coalition of over 200 U.S. grassroots,
women's, solidarity, faith-based, policy, social- and
economic- justice, youth, labor and development
organizations and over 185 international partner
organizations dedicated to the profound transformation of
the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
 Through education and action the Network is committed to
transforming the international financial institutions'
policies and practices, to ending the outside imposition
of neo-liberal economic programs, and to making the
development process democratic and accountable. The
Network focuses on action-oriented economic literacy
training, public mobilization, and policy advocacy.

  We seek a politically aware, committed, and progressive
Campaign Coordinator to work with current staff, Network
members, and partners to raise the visibility of the
organization and the issues we deal with, as well as build
our constituency.

Responsibilities
To the greatest extent possible the Network functions as a
collective; there are areas of work for which the Campaign
Coordinator has final responsibility and others for which
s/he provides support. The Campaign Coordinator and the
Network Director will share responsibility for much of
the work of the Network, however here are the main areas
of work for this position:

*Prepare for appearances/speaking - Arrange speaking
events and/or tours for Network staff and partners with
special emphasis on college audiences and grassroots
*Represent the Network as a spokesperson to the media and
public organizations
*Research and production of Alerts and Updates, Factsheets
and other publications
*Produce quarterly Network Newsletter (editing, layout)
*Implement media strategy to ensure critical coverage of
the impact of IMF and World Bank programs and projects
*Monitor Congressional activity
*Research and write short policy briefs and organizing
materials and information pieces for activists
*Represent the Network in various coalitions
*Represent the Network as a spokesperson in the media
*Organize Network conferences and mobilizations

  Assist the Director in these areas:
*prepare direct mail and other fundraising tasks
*speak engagements and interviews
*prepare for major mobilizations

  Qualifications include:
* Ability to articulate the work of the Network in diverse
public arenas
* Knowledge and experience working on economic development
issues
* Above average familiarity with IMF, World Bank, and WTO
issues
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work with diverse coalitions
* Organizing experience
* Competence working with Microsoft Word & Access;
WordPerfect 8; PageMaker; Outlook
* Experience in media campaigns involving progressive
political issues
* Willingness to travel
* Willingness to work hard and learn in a progressive
environment
* Ability to work under deadline pressure
* Fluency in a foreign language (particularly Spanish,
French, or Portuguese) a major plus; as is international
and/or grassroots experience

  Salary:
  $30,000 adjustable to professional skill level
commensurate with experience, with a generous benefits
