As you probably (I hope) already know, our 1-year anniversary party is
tomorrow. I still need volunteers to help out with set up (just come
around 5 p.m.) and we're still looking for donations of food and beverages
(especially for the over 21 crowd). Also, please help get the word out
about the party, below is a quick blurb that you can e-mail to everyone
you know or memorize and recite on the street corner -- whichever suites
your fancy. Thanks to everyone who is helping with the effort,

--Sascha

Celebrate the IMC's First Birthday with Jazz by Groove Yard!
6PM Friday Feb. 8 @ IMC, 218 W. Main St., Downtown Urbana

The Urbana-Champaign Indpendent Media Center celebrates one-year of
grassroots media production in our downtown Urbana home with food, fun and
jazz by local sensations Groove Yard. Come see how Indymedia has taken
root in Urbana-Champaign and see how we've grown. There will be free food
and drink, followed by open mic entertainment at 8 PM with the weekly
Friday Nite Cabaret.

The U-C IMC had its grand opening Jan. 19, 2001, the night before the
coronation of George W. Bush into the nation's presidency, becoming one of
only a few IMC's worldwide to have its own space to house independent
media production. In just a short year the U-C IMC has spawned two weekly
radio programs on community radio WEFT--IMC Radio News, a half-hour news
wrap-up, and Life in the Bike Lane, a short "drop-in" program heard during
WEFT's morning programming--the public i, a monthly newspaper, along with
this interactive news website. The IMC space has grown into a full-fledged
community center, hosting concerts, talks, classes and meetings, along
with production space for all types of media.

Everyone is invited to celebrate and become part of the Indymedia
revolution!
