By way of Jenny:

SUNDAY NOON STEERING MEETING- Facilitated by Paul Riismandel
Present: Russ, Nancy, Paul R., Brian, Sascha, Amy, Jenny (notetaker),
James, and Mike.
No spokes present for news or print

GROUP SPOKE REPORTS

LIBRARIANS- James
They are focusing on the Media Archive. They put out a form to the
newsgroup list but havent gotten feedback yet. They are trying to get
their database going again. If someone is doing media stuff, there is a
paper form attached to an envelope, so you can write what youre working on
there and place this info inside the librarians box.
The librarians are continuing to buy stuff- if you have suggestions, pu
them on a clipboard in the front room where the new books are stored.
There are lots of catalogs people can look through to get ideas.

SHOWS-Jenny
The IMC will be having an Independent Music Festival from March 7-14.
There will be four shows that week featuring local and national musicians.
$20 passes will be sold that will get people into all four shows that
week, which will be much cheaper than each show individually. Passes will
be sold starting February 8th at the front counter at the IMC.

SPACE-Mike
Mike is looking for new shelves/lock-in cabinets for the front room. He is
looking at 30 inches by 15 feet cabinets to stock supplies in. He still is
not sure how this will be financed. The back room needs a spring cleaning-
mounds of stuff are piling up behind the sound board and need to be
organized. We need to lock up cleaning chemicals or put them on a high
shelf out of the reach of IMC kiddies that hang out here.

FINANCE-Sascha
Everything is going well. Next week he will present the first monthly
budget report, so please get group reciepts in before Friday so that they
will show up on the Sunday report.
The IMC is doing a fiscal sponsorship of a South America caravan project
lasting for 60 days that will explore and document globalization there.
Many of the people involved are from New York, so more info is most likely
available on the New York IMC site.

OUTREACH-Brian
Cabaret is going well- tell all of your friends about it! (Its on Fridays
from 8-10 at the IMC). Were building up a core group of folks and are not
having a shortage of performers. Hooray!
The IMC One-Year Anniversary Party is on Friday, February 8th from 6-8pm
in the IMC, and will merge into the Cabaret from 8-10pm. Grooveyard will
be playing jazz during the party and will be paid $100 to do so. If anyone
wants to contribute money for Grooveyards payment, please talk to/email
Sascha. The News Poets are willing to perform during the party or Cabaret.
We need food and drink for the party! Let Sascha know what you will bring.
He says we need cheese spreads!
Brian mentioned that for Cabaret night local businesses like Sandwich Boy
are interested in supplying food once a month or so. This is something to
look into.

TECH-Paul and Brian
Mother Jones is up with the mixer board. Paul wrote instructions with
illustrations on them and is going to create a problem log for it. Paul
mentioned that Philiactive (sp?) is not a good thing to take on- they need
more programmers to deal with it. Sergei has been overheating due to the
new hard drive. There is a mutimedia upload problem that might now be
fixed, but more tests need to be done to make sure.

BUSINESS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. SHOWS:
Amy brought up the fact that the Punk Show Rental the night before
(Saturday the 26th) was not well organized and there was no staffer
scheduled to be there for the entire show which was from 6-9 but actually
lasted until 9:30 (Amy staffs from 6-8 on Saturdays). Luckily Brian and
Paul just happened to be there to staff the rest of the show. She
suggested that for shows there should be 2 people staffing just in case
there is a major problem that could happen. It is the space renters
responsibility to find someone to staff the show who has a key to lock up
the IMC after its over.

Jenny asked that if someone comes in wanting to book a show, please give
them Jennys email address (jenny at ucimc.org) and do not get out the space
book and let them sign up for a certain day. The reason for this is that
Jenny has people on a list who want shows that will get first priority-
she is now trying to space shows out so that we will only have four shows
a month or so, so that she doesnt have a heart attack or a mental
breakdown from stress. Thanks.

2. GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Saturday, March 30, starting at 3pm
The back room will be reserved from 3-6pm. Paul will look into non-profit
mail rates to send out invitations to all of our members. Our IMC
structure expires in February so past of this meeting will involve
assessing whether the current structure has worked for us or whether it
has been practical in practice or not.

3. Greg from WEFT is throwing a benefit for WEFT and the IMC at the
Highdive on February 9th. More info on the way.

4. Sacha wanted to let people know that the Raise The Fist organization
got raided by the FBI recently, and they were affiliated with indie media
outfits. The charges against them were confusing: distributing information
about terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. Keep this in mind, so if
the police come into the IMC, dont talk to them!!!!!
