Suzan Harjo will be speaking on "From Poetry to Policy: Issues Facing Native
Americans Today" in the South Rec Room of Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory,
Urbana, at 8pm on Wednesday, March 13. 

Ms. Harjo is a leading Native American public figure: a policy advocate,
columnist for Indian Country Today newspaper, poet, lecturer, and curator.
She has helped Native Peoples recover more than one million acres of land
and numerous sacred places and worked to develop key federal Indian law
since 1975. Ms. Harjo is President and Executive Director of The Morning
Star Institute, a national Indian rights organization founded in 1984 for
Native Peoples' traditional and cultural advocacy, arts promotion and
research.
