WEFTies and IMCers,

For many years WEFT has carried the annual "Homelessness Marathon." The
show's host, Jeremy Alderson, was removed from the air a couple of months
ago and his show, "The Nobody Show" was cancelled. For more information, see
his email below.

Don't know if Jeremy will want to do another homelessness marathon again
next year and if so, where he'll produce it from. Stay tuned!

IMCers, sounds like a potential story for the Radio News Hour and FSRN.
Media Geek, something for your show?

Kimberlie

Below please find a copy of a press release concerning "The Nobody Show."
"The Homelessness Marathon" was an offshoot of "The Nobody Show." But
"The Nobody Show" was cancelled, abruptly, after more than nine years on
the air. I wanted marathon affiliates to have a chance to read this
story. What can I say? We are in trouble.

Best,

Jeremy Alderson

WAS A TALK SHOW CANCELLED TO QUASH CRITICISM OF BIOTECH?

Jeremy Weir Alderson, a long-time talk host on WEOS radio in Geneva, NY,
has released a statement detailing evidence which suggests that he may
have been taken off the air in response to a request from Cornell
University. Alderson is currently suing Cornell, under NY's Freedom Of
Information Law, to force the university to release documents pertaining
to the corporate sponsorship and safety of its biotech research. He has
won the first two rounds in court, and Cornell is currently preparing an
appeal.

The statement also presents evidence that Mark Gearan, the former
communications director of the Clinton White House and former campaign
manager for Al Gore, may have been directly involved in silencing
Alderson. Gearan is now the president of Hobart and William Smith
Colleges which own WEOS.
