Steering 4/26/2002

Attending: Jenny, Sascha, Paul R., Michael F. (facilitating), Brian,

Group reports:

Print: Funding through July.  Some discussion of new editing process, 
which attempts to be more open.  

News: Bexa did some work that could be a show.  Andrew's work needs
production.  Danielle and Merideth's a20 show will be split into two
shows.

Tech: Dadaimc is in testing.  Video camera still needs to be ordered.

Shows: Red Hot Valentines show raised over $1000 , $370 of which went to
the IMC.  People booking shows are now Arun, Zach, Amy, Greg, and
Clint.

Finance: IMC is running a deficit.  We need people to do fundraising.
It isn't hard, and it needs to happen, and anyone can do it.  Paul is
sending out USPS mail to all founding members, keeping them up to date
and asking for donations.  Also need to mail members about renewing
their membership and possibly becoming sustaining funders.  We got some
money from global funds, IMC Argentina, and Sheri Herndon's global
project.  Fiscal sponsorship has raised around $2000 for the UCIMC.


New Business:  

Bookmobile.   A big airstream trailer with a collection of over 300
books, zines, etc.  They travel with some of the writers/producers and
run workshops/seminars/etc.  They are interested in coming here, and in
fact might come here instead of going to Chicago.  Sarah Kanouse met
them in New York and convinced them to come here.  They would be here
June 28th and 29th.  The Octupus is interested in doing a story.  Need
to find ways to raise money.  Consensus (barring objection from the two
missing spoke, James and Mike) was achieved to go forward on this.

Hidden stories.  Some stories promoted the murder of jews were hidden,
as per our web site policy.

Carl's Campaign: As a 501c, we can't promote a candidate, but individual
members of the IMC can write stories on the newswire, etc.

Announcements:  

Clint needs someone to take over space rental coordination, as he is
leaving.  He is also talking about himself in the third person.

Avram needs someone to take over sound editing when he leaves in three
weeks.
