Shows Group Minutes
9/12/02

Attending: Jenny, Sascha, Derek, Cassie, Alex, Jason (facilitating),
Arun (recording, natch), Zoe, Amy, Molly

* Meeting with Ward
Alex met with Ward, discussing having Highdive people distribute IMC
shows flyers.  Alex offered free admission to shows.  Ward initially
guessed $20/week.  Alex hopes to compromise, maybe around $10/week.  
Some questions: how many flyers per week?; how many copies needed per flyer?

Why do we want this?  Flyering by volunteers is good in theory but not in
practice.  We might consider some incentives/compensation, such as flyering
can allow one to book shows (or not flyering disallows...); or flyering
an area (Urbana, Champaign, campustown) can allow one to get into shows for
free.

* Excessive Holds
There are many shows on hold that are not confirmed.  The group agrees
this is a problem.  Alex is booking shows for other venues but wants
to give the IMC first crack.  Sascha suggests up to 3 unconfirmed
holds per promoter.  Arun proposes that unconfirmed holds expire after
2 weeks.  Both proposals would not be retroactive.  Group consensus
achieved.

* Counting money
Amy says last night counting the money was crazy.  People desire any or
all of the folliwng: dollar counting sheets; clicker counter for attendance;
different cashbox that sorts by bills; having someone double-check money for
the promoter.  Amy will make a counting sheet and look for some cash till
system.

* Gallery
Monday's workday was a smashing success.  There are new walls in the middle
room, but we're still not done yet.  The next workday will be Monday at 5:30pm
(same bat-time...): Jenny, Sascha, Derek, Alex, Jason, Arun (who never signed
up for last time, so don't put words in his mouth).

Arun bitches and moans about the state in which the middle room was
left on Monday night and how he had to clean up on Tuesday, so ya
better respect.  Word.

* Flyers
Weekly flyers are now available thanks to Jason.  
This weekend's flyer needs to hit downtown Champaign and Urbana ASAP.
Zoe volunteers to cover Urbana.  Amy volunteers to hit Champaign.  Campustown
is looking good (Arun touched up tonight.)

* public i
The group wants to make sure Zach submits page design to the shows Group before
it gets sent to the public i.

* Equipment
Arun purchased two DI boxes for the Bitch & Animal show.  Arun recommends
purchasing extra XLR and 1/4" cables to replace some bad cables and make sure
we don't come short in the future.  Make sure to label new equipment.
