LOCAL SINGER/SONGWRITER JOHN COPPESS TO PERFORM AT GALLERY WITH KATE
FRITZ AND JEFF ARRIGO

Local singer/songwriter John Coppess will be performing at indi go
Artist Co-Op with fellow musicians Kate Fritz and Jeff Arrigo on March
16th from 7-10pm. John and Kate will perform from 7-8:30pm, with Kate
performing solo fiddle numbers of her own. Jeff will perform from
8:30-10pm. $5 admission cost at the door.

John's interest in music began at birth. His father sang and played
the guitar, and John grew up singing with his dad after supper around
the kitchen table. When he was 8 years old, John lost his father to a
farm accident, and at 15 began teaching himself to play the guitar so
he could sing the songs he and his father had sung. John began singing
in public when he opened his leatherwork booth at the farmers' market.
He has since gone on to play many venues in Champaign/Urbana as well
as in his home town of Sheridan, Indiana. Three years ago he began
composing his own songs, and he now has an original repertoire of over
30 country, folk, and cowboy songs.

Kate Fritz grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area playing Scottish
fiddle music with the San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers under music
director Alasdair Fraser. Her music draws primarily from Scottish,
Cape Breton and Appalachian inspirations. She currently works, travels
and performs with Patch Adams and the Gesundheit Institute. In the
past year she traveled with her fiddle and music recorder in
Appalachia, Canada, the UK, Russia, China, and South East Asia
exploring the connection between environmental health and regional
music.

Jeff Arrigo is a songwriter and performer who has been playing his
music at bars, restaurants, and festivals for over 15 years. He is a
recent transplant to Champaign, having moved to the area from
Columbia, Missouri. A great many of Jeff's songs are about
misadventures on the trails and streams of the Missouri Ozarks. His
most recent CD "Gideon" is primarily an autobiographical roadmap of
his recent past, but newer songs have become more narrative and
include odes to ancient plant life, bank robbery, confessions of a
subpar soul, and all night murderous drinking binges.
