 This October, nonprofits, labor unions, and community groups will
have a one-time chance to apply for free FM radio licenses in cities
and towns across the country! It's the biggest chance in decades
for communities of color, women, and workers to own the airwaves. The

 Our special guest speaker is from the Coalition of Immokalee Workers
[3] (CIW). Prometheus helped the CIW build their station in 2003 to
support their struggle for human rights in South Florida's
agricultural fields. SInce then they've used the station, which
broadcasts in five languages, to organize hundreds of farm workers,
expose multiple cases of modern day slavery, and win historic labor
campaigns targeting companies including McDonald's, Burger King,
Taco Bell, Subway, and more. 

	 This hour-long webinar will teach you all the basics to start or
support a new community radio station. We'll share the history and
impact of low power FM radio, nuts and bolts of the FCC application
process, success stories [4], and free tools to help you get started.
There will be time for questions and answers. This is the starting
point to getting on the air! 

	 BACKGROUND AND SUPPORT

 After a successful ten-year struggle led by Prometheus and others the
Local Community Radio Act was finally signed into law in 2011 to free
the airwaves from corporate control. Is there a city where you want to
grow your base and build your media presence? Do you want to hear more
local artists on the air? What if we had a progressive station in
every state capitol? CHECK OUT AVAILABILITY ESTIMATES IN THE TOP 150
