Dear C4A Community,

I am writing to let you know that the Community Center for the Arts now has a sister
organization, a world-class community music school in the village of Kopeyia, in
 southern Ghana.

was founded by Godwin Agbeli, a master drummer and teacher in the Ewe tradition.
 Godwin passed away in 1998 and his sons and extended family, master drummers and
astounding performers in their own right, continue to cultivate Ewe performance 
and teaching traditions in their school.

is among the world's great art forms, and Western musicians travel regularly to 
Dagbe to learn ways to incorporate Ewe rhythmic sophistication into their own playing.
Unfortunately, the recent Ebola horror in West Africa has brought a virtual halt
 to non-essential Western travel to the region. Ebola has not spread to Ghana, however
the music and culture tours that have sustained Dagbe since its founding have stopped.

I would like to ask you to help support this extraordinary music school by sending
a tax-deductible contribution to Dagbe USA, a non-profit (501c3) organization set
up in the US specifically to promote the work of the Dagbe musician/teachers.

about the same size as C4A's faculty. The cost of living for these musicians, instructors,
and support staff is about $35/month, per person, totaling roughly $8,000 for a 
year. Your contribution of any amount will have a significant impact on the work
 of these musicians, averting the necessity of Dagbe artists seeking non-music employment
away from the village over the coming year. All donations go directly to the Dagbe
musicians.

I am proud that C4A has this opportunity to expand our mission of cultivating community
through music in a global arena, and I believe this relationship can make a significant
difference in the lives of the very worthy Dagbe musicians.
