Celebrate Independent Cinema: BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2015 Opens Next Week


Dear Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center,

I hope you are well. The BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) opens next week, showcasing 300 films from around the world in 15 unique and iconic venues across the historic city of York from 5 to 8 November.

Celebrating the 5th anniversary, this is the biggest year yet. ASFF 2015 offers filmmakers, fans and film world professionals the opportunity to connect, share best practice and experience new cinema in a unique setting.

The BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) returns to York from 5-8 November with a stunning line-up of 300 short films, industry events and special screenings. Celebrating the 5th anniversary, this is the biggest year yet.
Transforming the city through cinema, ASFF invites you to create your own unique viewing experience, journeying through 15 iconic venues. Watch world-class cinema in a range of genres from drama, comedy and documentary to artists' film, music video and fashion. There is also a Family Friendly programme for younger audiences.
For those looking to expand their knowledge of film, there are over 20 masterclasses with leading organisations in the industry, such as Channel 4, Association of Camera Operators (Star Wars, Gravity and James Bond) and Oscar and BAFTA Award Winning VFX giant Framestore (Guardians of the Galaxy and Jupiter Ascending).
ASFF 2015 also includes guest programmes from China, Brazil and Cuba, as well as a French language screening chosen from this year's Official Selection. In celebration of ASFF's 5th anniversary, there is a chance to see winning films from the past four years, plus a new Videotheque enables industry to seek out new films and practitioners to establish future collaborations.
